Otto Ludwig Edvard LEHMANN (Copenhagen 1815 - 1892) "Luthspilleren" (the lute player) Rare original lithograph on a painted background belonging to the collection "De Kongelige Billedgallerier" published in Copenhagen between 1831 and 1837, by a subject previously believed by Hans Holbein the younger (1497-1543) but now definitively attributed to the Dutchman Jan van Scorel (1495-1562). Nice specimen with large margins, slightly burnished and with areas of small foxing points with white edges but overall in excellent condition. A sheet like ours was included in the sale of Prof. Iloyen's collection in Copenhagen in 1870. The original painting by van Scorel is part of the collections of the Staten Museum for Kunst in Copenhagen. Bibliography: Nagler "Neues Allgemeines Kunstler Lexicon" Leipzig sd vol.VIII pag.339. Thieme - Becker "Allgemeines Lexicon der bildenden Kunstler" Leipzig, sd vol. XXII pag.580. Measurements in mm: 600ca x 455ca the sheet
